Scarves can take your look across the decades from 1970s bohemian to '60s mod to 1920s flapper. My go-to ways of wearing them are bandana style, as a super wide vintage-inspired hair tie and a head wrap.
How-To Wear A Scarf Bandana Style:
Start out by holding your scarf in front of you, with the design facing outwards. Fold the scarf in half length-wise to form a triangle (I always make the front side of the triangle slightly larger for a fuller look.) Take the two outer points in each hand and tie them behind your neck for the style you'd like — tie tightly for a classic bandana look or loosely for a more oversized look, like the one I'm sporting above.
How-To Wear A Scarf As A Vintage-Style Hair Tie:
Start out by folding your scarf in half length-wise in order to form a triangle. Next, roll and fold over the peak of the scarf, before folding in half to your desired width. Carefully, take the scarf in both hands holding the folds in place, and tie the scarf around your head.
How-To Wear A Scarf As A Vintage-Style Head Wrap:
Fold your scarf in half length-wise in order to form a triangle. Then, fold it to form a band with a triangle left loose and carefully tie the scarf around your head. Pull the triangle forward and over your head, before tying it to one of the ends. Adjust as you'd like and you're ready to go.
